Improve your skin with these 8 simple tips

Improve your skin

Getting flawless, fabulous looking skin is not just for the celebs splashed across the front pages of magazines. Although most of them are airbrushed beyond recognition, if you follow these 8 simple steps you can help improve the appearance of your skin.

One at a time
If you use more than one skin care product, make sure you leave enough time in-between each applications to ensure it has been fully absorbed by the skin. Applying the next product too soon will reduce the effect, and may even prove detrimental.

You are what you eat, so each a vitamin rich diet
It’s true when they say ‘you are what you eat’. There’s a direct correlation between your diet and the state of your skin. A vitamin rich diet will boost the appearance of your skin. Vitamin supplements may be an option but always consult your doctor before making any drastic changes to your diet. Eat well, look well.

Exfoliate, Exfoliate!
Dead skin will make your skin dull, and will give the appearance of ageing beyond your youthful years. Exfoliate regularly and you will drastically see an improvement as the dead skin layer is simply removed, leaving your skin glowing and fresh. It’s recommended to exfoliate about 2 to 3 times a week.

Read the small print
This is obvious, but always read the small print, especially the ingredients. Never buy because you like the brand or the advertisements as all products are different and some won’t be good for your skin. Most products are now targeted towards special skin types, so make sure you know your skin type and pick accordingly. Take note of what ingredients are used, and ensure there are no harsh chemicals or anything that you are allergic too. You will see patterns in the products and get used to what works best with your skin type.

Moisturise after washing
Hot water removes essential natural oils from the skin which you need to replenish. Apply straight after washing to lock in the moisture and get the full benefit for your skin.

Clean your brush regularly
This is a common mistake, and so easily avoided. It’s easy to forget that the brush is just like anything else in the house that can harbour germs and bacteria and cause skin irritation. Look after your makeup brush by cleaning at least once a week you won’t risk any damage.

Simply rinse under warm water, apply some shampoo to wash off any makeup residue. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry before use.

Less stress for happy skin
Make 2017 your year to reduce stress. Stress can affect your skin and general appearance in many ways, and not in a positive way. Work and family life are the reasons most people suffer from stress, so try to focus on improving these areas. Other techniques are yoga, meditation, sport or excercise. Find out what works best for you and help improve your well-being.

Drink water
Hydration has a direct link to the skin quality, and lack of it can result in dry, tired and dull looking skin. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Daily recommended amounts change regularly so use your own judgement on what your right levels are for you.

Follow these simple steps and you should see an improvement pretty quickly. Good luck.
